Strathmore Secondary College
Strathmore Secondary College #00861K, the Victorian Government School located in Strathmore Suburb, approximately 30 mins by train from Melbourne City.
The College has been part of the Department of Education and Training International Student Program since its introduce in 1957. This co-ed day college has accepted both local and international students from Year 7 to Year 12.
Curriculum at Strathmore Secondary College
The curriculum program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive general education in the early years of secondary school followed by the opportunity ot individualize program once student reach Year 10
The program in Year 7 to 9 provides a sound foundation for studies in the senior years. It allows student flexibility in subject breadth, together with opportunities for extension and challenge. For Year 10 students, they are free to choose their own programs. They also have the option of enrolling in VCE subjects, and the range of VCE subjects will be wider to access in Year 11 and 12.
The College focus on achievement and success, complemented by the comprehensive support provided to students, increases the breadth of post school options to which our students have access.
The Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC)
The Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC) is spcialist STEM learning facility, one of six established by the Victorian State Government. Since its official opening in 2006, VSSEC has used the context of space to enhance the learning experiences in Mathematics, Science, Technology and Engineering for both teachers and students.
VSSEC is located in the grounds of Strathmore Secondary College. The spiral galaxy shaped building provides a stimulating environment which encourages students to be fully engaged in problem – solving and scenario – based learning.
International Students Program
Strathmore Secondary College have had many overseas students enroll at the College from a variety of countries including China, Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Korea and Indonesia. These students usually come for more than 2 years and complete their VCE before going onto Universities in Australia or other countries.
Accommodation and Welfare Arrangement
Strathmore Secondary College has been taking fee – payment International students and provide Homestay to these students while they enrolled at the College. Every Homestay will be visited by the Homesty Coordinator to see the home, write up a profile and to explain the program. All people in Homestay who are over 18 years of age must have (or apply for) a Working with Children Check.
For Welfare arrangement, the College will take responsibility to be the “Guardian” for the international students as well as organize the Airport Pick Up service on their first arrive to Melbourne.
