These rankings reflect the world-class teaching and research across all of our three faculties.
We have a long tradition of excellence in teaching, recognised in many external surveys and assessments, but also by our own students. We have been awarded Gold status in the UK Teaching Excellence Framework, which recognises our undergraduate teaching as being of the highest quality in the UK.
We’re ranked 175th in the world in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2017, this is up from our position of 190th in 2016. We scored particularly highly in the research and international outlook components of the survey.
Our international students rate us highly, and we had an overall satisfaction ranking of 93% in the International Student Barometer Survey Autumn 2017. The results place us 6th in the UK (among participating institutions).

Student experience
We are ranked joint 7th in the UK in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2018, placing us in the top 10 in the UK for the fourth year in a row. International students studying with us also give us a high rating of 95% for safety (International Student Barometer Autumn 2017).
We are ranked top 10 in Europe for Teaching Excellence, Times Higher Education Europe Teaching Rankings 2018.
